Seven first-year postgraduate students majoring in Intangible Culture Heritage at TJU this year are the first batch of China's first postgraduate program in the interdisciplinary subject of intangible cultural heritage. They are going to start their study in Feng Jicai Institute of Literature and Art (FJCILA). Yu Fengyi is one of seven students.

“Just seeing ‘PEIYANG’ on the university badge already makes me excited!” said Yu. The road of study is long, and Yu has long regarded TJU as her “dream school”. Walking on the campus, she couldn't hide her excitement as a TJUer. During the move-in process, “the warmth of TJU” also made her feel at home. She said: “All teachers and seniors are very friendly and considerate, and they are always ready to answer our questions and solve our problems.”

As a branch of Cultural Heritage research, the Intangible Culture Heritage (ICH) discipline regards the physical subjections of ICH and their history, customs, aesthetic methods, value system, inheritors and how to protect, inherit and develop them reasonably as its study object. It’s a new interdisciplinary program involved in theoretical research, field research, protection and management, representing the combination of humanities, social sciences and natural science. Talking about why she chose this specialty, she said that except for the sense of mission, the scholastic atmosphere of FJCILA attracts her a lot: “During the examination, the extensive professional knowledge, warmth and inclusiveness of professionals in FJCILA really enfold me.”

On move-in day, Yu came to FJCXY very early and made a private wish facing with luck-symbolized koi. “Intangible Culture Heritage is both a witness of human history and an identity confirmed and reconstructed by generations and generations, I hope I can become the one who can finish forward-looking investigation and scientific research and grow up into those who can implement the policies and measures to protect and develop Intangible Culture Heritage.” For further studies and career planning, she was confident and said “I hope ICH can brighten my life up!”
